  • Ramiz Raja points out Pakistan's flaws of using makeshift bowlers.
  • The former captain believes Shadab Khan is not in form.

Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja believes that Pakistan needs to take a relook into their bowling attack, as the cricket pundit believes the current bowling line would not take the side further in limited overs cricket.

“Pakistan could not go much further with this bowling attack in One Day Internationals (ODIs), they would also not be able to win more matches because one cannot bowl some thirty overs from makeshift bowlers,” said Raja, in a video message.

Raja said that the makeshift bowler strategy could work if you are bowling in the second innings and have massive score to back, but it will prove disastrous when bowling first. He also pointed out that leggie Shadab Khan’s performance has not been up to the mark and could not be considered the team’s front-line spinner.

“I believe Pakistan needs to relook at their bowling options, and should start preparing for the next World Cup. They should get rid of players aged above 30 and induct young talent, that the management believes can be groomed in 3-4 years,” he added.

The former captain-turned-commentator applauded the batting line for chasing down the 298 runs target set by Sri Lanka in the third ODI and was particularly impressed by opener Abid Ali and Haris Sohail.

After winning the ODI series 2-0, Pakistan would now meet Sri Lanka in Lahore for a three-match T20I series.
