HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks rose in the morning session on Thursday, building on the previous day’s surge after the city’s leaders agreed to a key demand from pro-democracy protesters, while dealers also welcomed news of fresh China-US trade talks next month.

The Hang Seng Index added 0.38, or 101.02 points, to 26,624.25 by lunch.
