Former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis has applied for the vacant position of Pakistan bowling coach. This comes days after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced to axe Pakistan’s previous coaching staff.

As per media reports, Younis who had twice served at the position of head coach of the national team submitted his request for the job of bowling coach.

The PCB is searching for a head coach, batting coach and bowling coach of the national cricket team, after the board sacked Mickey Arthur alongside the remaining coaching staff in the aftermath of Pakistan’s losing run at the ICC World Cup 2019.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Misbah ul Haq is being considered a favorite to become the next head coach replacing Arthur, even though he has not applied for the job yet. “It's not final yet that I am going to apply for the job, so everything that has been reported about me is speculative,” said Misbah in a press conference.

It is pertinent to mention, that the deadline to submit applications is August 26.
