BUCHAREST: Romania's current account deficit widened by 38.5pc on the year to 2.31 billion euros ($2.61 billion) in January-April, central bank data showed on Thursday.

Foreign direct investment was 1.32 billion euros, against 1.6 billion in the same period of last year. Long-term external debt rose 2.8pc from the end of last year to 68.9 billion euros.
