ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to identify the accused involved in uploading sacrilegious material on social media and take legal action against them.

An IHC bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani announced judgment, which was reserved on May 20.

The order stated:"Earlier an IHC's bench had already given a comprehensive judgment regarding the matter."

The court directed the respondents to take solid steps to stop uploading of blasphemous material on social media.

It stated that it was the responsibility of the FIA and the PTA to stop such practice on social media and identify the culprits.
