Pakistan middle order batsman Asif Ali will be departing for UK today (Saturday), to join his side in the upcoming World Cup 2019.

“Leaving today to join Pakistan team in UK for our Cricket World Cup journey. We as a team will be in need of your prayers & unconditional support,” tweeted Asif, while calling others to pray for her deceased daughter.

Ali made into the final-15 member World Cup squad, thanks to his performance at the recently concluded One Day International (ODI) series against England. However, the good news was marred with tragedy as Asif Ali’s daughter died just days ago while battling Stage IV Cancer.

Meanwhile, Pakistan would play their second World Cup warm-up match against Bangladesh on Sunday 26th May. The national team would formally begin their World Cup campaign with the first match against the West Indies on May 31.
