Mozilla is not giving up competing against rival Google Chrome and this time it has promised to get much faster than ever before in a newly released update, along with enhancing privacy protection.

In a blog post published on Tuesday, Mozilla promised big performance advancements with its latest Firefox browser update that rolled out yesterday. Along with getting much faster, Mozilla also announced some new features that will be included to enhance speeds.

The community identified areas in Firefox where the browser could speed up and load web pages much quicker. This means that scripts for sites like Google, Instagram and Amazon all load between 40% and 80% faster.

Also, the firm is suspending idle tabs in Firefox if the user only has 400MB of RAM left on their system. This would in turn improve multiple tab performances on systems without much RAM, and also, the unused tabs will simply be suspended until the user clicks on them again.

Along with this, Mozilla is also improving privacy controls and protections in Firefox with the update. Users can now block cryptomining scripts that attempt to use the CPU for generating cryptocurrency. Digital fingerprints can also be blocked to stop ads from tracking users online.

Other features also include personalizing private browsing experience, saving passwords so that users won’t have to type passwords for the same site again and again, smoother video playback and more. All of the performance improvements, privacy additions and other features are already available in the Firefox 67 release.
