Light rain, dust-thunderstorm continue to grip Karachi
Karachi received light rain on Monday morning as dust-thunderstorm and winds continue to grip the port city.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted heavy rain with thunder today and on Tuesday. According to PMD dust-thunderstorm and rain is expected at scattered places in Sindh including Sukkur, Larkana, Sh.Benazirbad, Hyderabad and Karachi divisions. Hailstorm is also expected at isolated places during the period.
Due to the sandstorm which hit the city on Sunday, signboards, trees and electric wires were cut across the city. Due to the electric wires being ripped off, most of the city experienced load shedding throughout Sunday night.
According to Met office spokesperson, a shallow westerly wave is presently affecting upper and central parts of Pakistan. This weather system is likely to intensify and grip most parts of the country on Monday.
Following the sandstorm people took to Twitter sharing pictures and warning people to be cautious.
Garden furniture in one of my neighbours house flew like a projectile and crashed into his vehicles windscreen breaking it. Please ensure there are NO free moving objects around you. #Karachi #DustStorm
