Shaheen confident against South Africa, despite Sarfraz fiasco

Pakistan tour of South Africa took an unsavory turn after skipper Sarfraz Ahmed got himself involved in a racist comment controversy. However, despite the ongoing troubled environment speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi is confident to make amends in the third One Day International (ODI).

Talking to media on the eve of the third ODI, the lanky fast bowler expressed confidence over his side's chances against the Proteas in the third ODI. “We are ready for the next match and hopefully we will end up on the winning side,” said Afridi.

Talking about the loss in the previous match, Afridi said that the side is ‘not disappointed’ with the outcome, as winning and losing are part of the game.

“My approach in this match will be to play aggressive cricket, and bowl in good line and lengths,” said Afridi, while talking about his game plan.

Meanwhile, skipper Sarfraz could face suspension for three to five matches if he is found to have breached the ICC’s anti-racism code

During the second one-day international in Durban, a controversial statement by Sarfraz for Andile was caught by the stumps mics. Since then, the skipper has been strongly condemned by cricketers and fans alike. “Hey black guy, where’s your mother sitting today? What (prayer) have you got her to say for you today,” Sarfraz was heard saying in Urdu.

Although the skipper has apologized for his comments, the fear of ICC's suspension still looms over him. If Sarfraz is suspended, veteran batsman Shoaib Malik is expected to replace him, meanwhile Mohammad Rizwan is expected to take on the wicket keeping duties.

With the series poised 1-1, Pakistan and South Africa will collide in the third ODI on Friday at SuperSport Park, Centurion.
