Ukraine's 2018/19 sugar output at 1.67mn tonnes so far

KIEV: Ukraine produced 1.67 million tonnes of white sugar by Dec. 28 from 12.26 million tonnes of sugar beet, sugar union Ukrtsukor said.

Ukraine harvested around 13.6 million tonnes of sugar beet this year. The sugar processing season began in September.

The country's production of white sugar is likely to fall to 2 million tonnes in the 2018/19 season, from 2.14 million tonnes the previous season, the union has said.

Ukraine consumes up to 1.3 million tonnes of sugar per year.
