KARACHI: Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi reviewed law and order situation in Sindh, especially Karachi, at a high-level meeting on law and order, here at the Governor House on Wednesday.
The meeting chaired by the Minister of State for Interior reviewed in detail law and order situation in the province, particularly the metropolis.
The meeting also discussed the recent target killing incidents in the city, said a statement issued from the Governor House here.
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Chief Secretary Sindh, Director General Rangers, Inspector General of Sindh Police and senior officers of law enforcement and intelligence agencies attended the meeting.
Shehryar Afridi was given a detailed briefing on the recent incidents in Karachi. He was also apprised of progress in investigation so far.
The State Minister called for stern action against enemies of peace and for protecting life and property of people. He emphasised upon ground intelligence and joint actions to break any network of terrorists to ensure sustainable peace.
While the Sindh Governor said the present circumstances demand extraordinary measures. He urged all the law enforcement agencies to ensure concrete action against terrorists through mutual coordination.
The participants of the meeting expressed their determination to take concrete action with mutual cooperation against enemies of peace.
The Minister of State promised that the recommendations of the meeting will be presented before the cabinet.
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, while praising the role of Rangers in the restoration of peace in the city, said a safe city model needs to be introduced in the city.
Later, Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi along with Governor Sindh Imran Ismail addressed a press conference. The minister expressed his grief over the assassination of former lawmaker Ali Raza Abidi.
He vowed that the menace of terrorism would be eliminated with joint efforts.
