RAWALPINDI: Three security personnel including Station House Officer City police station, one police head constable and a volunteer were injured when two attackers opened fire at police officials stationed at Imperial market with the limits of city police station.
When contacted City Police spokesman told APP, that SHO city police Qamar Sultan along with police party were positioned at imperial market for checking.
He said a number of motorcycles daily parked at the outside of the market and police were deployed for checking any suspicious activity.
During checking two people found doubtful for their activities and when police official asked them to show their identification, they suddenly opened fire on the police.
At the scene the SHO took one of them into his arms while the other continued to start firing resulting injured the SHO,head constable Amjad Ali,volunteer Akhtar Ali and his own companion.
They all were shifted to District Headquarter Hospital where their treatment are underway,he said.
The spokesman said that the attackers were involved in several cases of dacoitees and wanted by the police.
Inspector General of Police (IGP)Amjad Javed Saleemi while taking notice of the firing incident directed the CPO Rawalpindi to submit a detailed report about the incident.
