More focus on human resource development by promoting technical education: Sarwar

TAXILA: Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Ghulam Sarwar Khan Saturday reiterated the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government’s resolve of paying more attention to the education sector, with more focus on human resource development by promoting technical education across the country.

“The government is paying attention to human resource development and technical education as around 2.5 million children are not enrolled in schools," he said while addressing a prize distribution ceremony at Government College of Technology, Taxila, according to a press release.

The minister regretted," We, the Muslims, are lagging behind in education while England's educational institutes are far better than the rest world.”

He said the previous government did not pay any heed to the education and at present, the country required more technical education institutes as the world gave preference to the students of technical education.

He said the youth after getting education in Pakistan, moved abroad for jobs which resulted in brain drain. The PTI government would change it into "brain gain", he added.

The minister said women did not remain the priority of past regimes. The PTI government, however, believed in equality and would give equal education opportunities to both genders as women were more responsible and honest as compared to men. “In our sit-in, the women had played a important role,” he added.

He said the girls, who did not get admission in medical colleges, should opt for nursing as in other countries that profession had great importance.

He said despite financial constraints, the issues of the Government College of Technology would be resolved at earliest. The petroleum engineers’ were drawing more pay than other engineers, therefore, the college should start petroleum and chemical engineering classes, he advised.

The minister announced that a poly technical college would be established at Chakri soon.
