QUETTA: Election Commission of Balochistan Friday organized a seminar here at Quetta Metropolitan Corporation, in connection with National Day of Voters, to raise awareness regarding importance of votes.
Addressing the seminar, Provincial Election Commissioner Niaz Baloch, Deputy Mayor Quetta Muhammad Younis Baloch, District Chairman Quetta Council Habibullah Bazai and speakers said votes of male and women were important for stability and strengthen of democracy.
“The National Voters Day was celebrated across the country, aiming to create awareness among people regarding value of votes and parliamentary democratic systems”, they said.
They said in this regard, Election Commission of Pakistan was providing opportunities to citizens to get information about their National Votes record through sending SMS from mobile services on this number 8300 which is being successfully continued in country.
Speakers said women, a half of the population, need to be educated about importance of their votes so that they would actively participate in upcoming local bodies election for strengthening democracy at gross rout level.
They urged all political parties, councilors and municipal representatives to play their role to spread awareness among women voters because most of women voters were not registered in election list, so they are deprived from utilizing of their votes.
