KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Transport Syed Owais Qadir Shah Wednesday announced that the provincial government has decided the installation of tracker devices in all the motorbikes old or new across the province.
In a statement issued here, he said that a summary for the approval of the installation of tracker system has been sent to the Sindh Chief Minister. He said that the tracker would help prevent motorbike-related crimes including theft, motorbike use in street crimes, target killings and others.
Syed Owais said that the companies and showroom owners would be bound to ensure installation of tracker system in the motorbikes. He said that action would be taken against the motorbikes without tracker.
The Excise Department would not issue number plates to the motorbikes without tracker, Syed Owais said adding that the installation of tracker in the motorbikes would ultimately benefit the masses.
The provincial minister said that Motor Vehicle Ordinance would also be amended.
