MULTAN: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi Saturday said that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was an independent institution and PTI had no link to inquiries by NAB in different cases.
These cases were registered during previous regimes, before the PTI government. The corrupt elements were making wrong propaganda against NAB due to fear of accountability. The foreign minister said this while talking to media here on Saturday.
Qureshi, while responding to a question, stated that India was continuously violating ceasefire agreement. Firing at Line of Control (LOC) was an attempt to divert attention from Kashmir issue, he added.
About peace process in Afghanistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi remarked that Russia was an important country of the region. He added that Pakistan was trying its level best for peace in the region.
To a question about Yemen, the foreign minister stated that Pakistan wanted peace in Yemen.
To another query, he remarked that PTI government faced historic current account deficit when it assumed charge. However the improvement in country's exports would help improve reserves and it would also bring dollar price down, Qureshi observed. It was wish of the incumbent government that Dr Aafia Siddiqui should reach home and PTI government was doing its best legal efforts in this regard, he said.
About spell of smog in Multan, the minister stated that PTI government was paying immense focus on environment by planting maximum trees.
