After in-display fingerprint sensors, in-display front cameras might be next

In-display fingerprint sensors are not the only new big thing for smartphone manufacturers, as LG might move a step

In-display fingerprint sensors are not the only new big thing for smartphone manufacturers, as LG might move a step ahead by introducing in-display front camera.

Majority of smartphone designs these days are coming in with a notch-design in order to go completely bezel-less and have an entire edge-to-edge display. Manufacturers including Vivo and Oppo introduced sliding front camera to eliminate the notch too.

Now, with electronic company LG’s newly filed patent, it might go a step ahead of others by launching a smartphone with an in-display front camera, giving a true bezel-less screen, without a top notch, reported LetsGoDigital.

Vivo unveils first ever all-screen smartphone with pop-up selfie camera

As shown in the patent, there are two designs portrayed – one with a flat surface and one with curved edges, similar to Samsung’s. Both the models will use flexible OLED displays, made by LG Display.

According to the patent, the front selfie camera can be placed in various locations, in the middle, left edge, or right edge, on the display’s top. The camera comes in the form of an oval hole made up of a transparent material and will probably have two camera sensors along with other sensors needed by the smartphone.

Moreover, according to Gadgets360, South-Korean tech giant Samsung too is reportedly working on a similar technique for its future smartphones.
