As the newly elected government of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) learn the ropes of managing a country, engulfed in economic uncertainty. Economic experts believe that it will ‘not be fair’ to judge the new government performance in the first 100 days.

“Pakistan hasn’t enough dollars and the expenditure is more than the country’s revenue. For starting housing projects and creating new jobs one needs to spend money and we don’t have it,” said renowned economist, Dr. Kaiser Bengali, who has served as adviser to the Sindh and Balochistan governments, quoted Arab News.

"Given the economic conditions of the country, it would not be fair if we judged the PTI government on the basis of 100 days’ performance. I will give six months before judging it,” he added.

Marred with economic woes, including depleting foreign reserves, Fianance Minister Asad Umar, earlier revealed that the country is facing a shortfall of $2 billion a month.

In order to address this issue, Pakistan is weighing several options, including approaching the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Earlier, on Tuesday Asad Umar said that the government has not yet decided to take a bailout package from International Monetary Fund (IMF). However, he said that it would not be for the first time if any decision is taken to avail the IMF bailout package, country had approached the IMF 12 times.
