KARACHI: Excise and Taxation department, Sindh has collected Rs 5659.254 million during the month of July- 2018 in term of various taxes.
Sindh Caretaker Minister for Excise and Taxation and Irrigation, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah informed while presiding a departmental meeting here on Thursday that during the same period last fiscal year Rs 4976.246 million were collected, said a statement.
Secretary Excise Taxation & Narcotics Control Aijaz Ahmed Mahesar, Director Generals Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other Directors also attended the meeting.
While briefing the meeting, Director General Excise & Taxation Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh told that Rs. 603.079 million were collected for Motor Vehicle Tax, Rs. 4350.500 million in head of Infrastructure Cess and Rs. 56.077 million were collected in terms of Professional Tax.
He added Rs. 0.493 million in terms of Cotton fee, Rs, 252.565 million for property tax and Rs. 6.910 million were collected in Entertainment Duty, while the remaining amount was collected in terms of various other heads.
On this occasion, the Minister expressed his satisfaction over the recovery position of the taxes, however he asked the officers to speed-up the recovery of the taxes and achieve the targets at earliest.
