Condemning the recent attacks on Pakistan's political leaders, the United States (US) Embassy in Islamabad termed these attacks as 'cowardly attempts' to deprive Pakistan of their democratic rights.

"US grieves with the mourning victims and hopes for a rapid recovery of those injured," reads a statement on Twitter from the US's Embassy in Islamabad. The statements further states that US will stand with the people of Pakistan and the broader South Asia region in their fight against terrorism.

Three suicide bomb blasts took place during this week, while all three targeted election rallies. Two of these blasts occurred on Friday - one in Bannu, Peshawar and the other in Mastung, Baluchistan.

On Friday morning, a blast in Bannu killed four and injured more than 25 people. The blast was targeted at the convoy of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal leader Akram Khan Durrani, however, he remained unhurt in the blast.

Similarly, on Friday evening a blast ripped through the convoy of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) candidate Siraj Raisani, in which he and 127 others were killed while as many as 150 people were injured. The Islamic State claimed the responsibility of the attack.

Few days go, a blast in Peshawar took the life of Awami National Party’s candidate Haroon Ahmad Bilour and 20 others. The blast also injured 66 people who were present for the party’s corner meeting.
