Maryam Nawaz defends son for beating protester in London
Defending her son Junaid Safdar for beating up a protester outside Avenfield apartments, Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz has said that anyone who was being sworn at would have reacted the same way.
Maryam's son Junaid and her nephew Zakaria Sharif were taken into custody on Thursday for beating up a man outside Avenfield apartments. According to Junaid, the protester had spitted at him and tried to attack him, local media reported.
In a video surfacing on Twitter, Junaid and Zakaria are seen tackling and beating a man outside the apartments. The man, who is seen pinned to the ground by Junaid, has blood on his face. The video shows that both the protester and the cousins are scuffling and stop when police intervene.

Can you imagine if that happened in Punjab? The #Punjab Police would have tortured and arrested the victims rather than the attackers. 1/2 pic.twitter.com/YvcNYcDt2k

Maryam, who is en route to Pakistan with her father Nawaz Sharif and is currently in Abu Dhabi airport, took to twitter and defended him.
PTI workers stationed outside London flat shouted ‘son of a bitch’ every time they saw Junaid. Anyone would have reacted. https://t.co/Zml91wGKmU
