ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court of Islamabad Thursday dismissed a plea of former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz seeking a five-day exemption from hearing in graft references.

During the hearing, they filed petition seeking exemption from June 11 to 15, as they wanted to travel to London to inquire after the health of ailing Kulsoom Nawaz. The fresh medical report of Kulsoom Nawaz was also attached with the petition.

Earlier, the court reserved the judgment over the plea after hearing arguments and later dismissed the exemption request while announcing the judgment.

Meanwhile, National Accountability Bureau (NAB)’s Deputy Prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi continued giving his closing arguments in Avenfied property reference before accountability court Judge Muhammad Bashir.

He said Nawaz and his family had hidden their ownership of London flats through offshore companies. Nawaz Sharif was the actual owner of that property, he added.

Abbasi said there was no record to show that bearers shares were transferred from Prince Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Al-Thani to Hussain Nawaz. He denied the allegations that the Qatari prince was threatened.

He said Maryam Nawaz had declared the copy of trust deed submitted to the joint investigation team (JIT) as real. However, the accused did not present any forensic expert to challenge the report of Robert Radley.

Radley was associated with this field since 1974 and he had no grudge with the accused, the prosecutor added.

He said the prosecution had proved its case against the Sharif family, saying that it was a criminal case. The accused could not provide evidence to prove their sources of income, he said.

Later, the court adjourned hearing of the case till tomorrow. The NAB prosecutor would continue closing arguments in that case on next date of hearing.

Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt. (retd) Muhammad Safdar were present before court.
