Ice hockey may not be the most popular sports in Pakistan, but the countrymen will be pleased to know that a Pakistani team went on to win an international ice hockey tournament.

Shaheen Ice Hockey Team race through the finals and were crowned champions of the Lion City Cup 2018 held at The Rink in Singapore on Saturday.

The newly launched ice hockey team sponsored by Shaheen Air International participated in Singapore’s annual ice hockey event, the Lion City Cup 2018. The tournament brought together teams from all over the world, including Taiwan, Australia, and Asia.

Earlier, the team qualified for the finals by beating Singapore Rusty Blades with a 4-2 on Friday.

The private airline announced the launch of its Ice Hockey team for the first time in the country. “Ice Hockey in Pakistan will engrave our name in history of the nation. Sports has always fascinated the youth and exploring new possibilities in the field can lead towards unimaginable experiences,” said CEO of the carrier Ehsan Sehbai.
