Pakistan legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram, has said that the youngster Shaheen Afridi took him to his days of a young fast bowler.

Akram was full of praise for the left-arm Afridi, who will be seen in action for Pakistan U-19, at the upcoming U-19 World Cup in New Zealand. “He is a left arm bowler, he is tall and he remembers me of my youth, as his bowling action is also identical, coming in sideways, extract bounce,” stated Akram.

The legend advised Afridi and fellow young quick Musa Khan to pitch up the deliveries in New Zealand, as the conditions Down Under favors swing.

“I alongside Waqar, have taken a lot of wickets in New Zealand, and our secret of success was that we used to pitch up the deliveries, as the weather and pitches allows the balls to swing, and you have more chances to claim wickets,” said Akram.

Akram further advised the youngsters to forget the past and focus on the upcoming tournament. “I am optimistic that the Pakistan U-19 would perform well, as always,” he said.

Earlier, the U-19 cricket team suffered a humiliating loss, when cricket minnows the Afghanistan U-19 beat them by 185 runs at the final of U-19 Asia Cup, last month.

Meanwhile, the Under-19 Cricket World Cup would commence on January 13th in New Zealand.
