A district and sessions court dismissed on Wednesday the bail request of Mufti Abdul Qavi and issued orders to the police to arrest him in connection with the murder of model and social media star Qandeel Baloch. However, the suspect immediately escaped from the court after court rejected his bail plea.

Soon after, raids have been conducted to arrest Mufti Qavi. According to local media reports, upon his arrival in the court earlier, Mufti Qavi said he will emerge victorious and he will accept the decision of the court.

Chaudhry Ameer Muhammad Khan conducted the hearing of the case during which Mufti Qavi flee from the court after his bail plea was dismissed. Police requested the court to reject Qavi’s bail for completion of challan and additional investigation.

Warrants issued against Mufti Qavi in Qandeel Baloch murder case

Reportedly, the main suspects in the case, which includes Qandeel’s brother Waseem and Haq Nawaz, were also produced before the court.

Back in 2016, Qandeel took the social media by storm after she posted pictures with Qavi in a hotel room. In one of the pictures posted by the deceased model, Qandeel was seen wearing the cleric’s hat and another picture shows her posing with Mufti Qavi, sitting next to him.

Later on, she was murdered on July 15 the same year. Her brother confessed to the crime and admitted to killing Qandeel for 'honour'.
