Pakistan bowling legend Wasim Akram, hailed as one of the greatest fast bowlers in the history of cricket, has gained another admirer as West Indian great Shivanarine Chanderpaul called him ‘the best’ of the lot.

The West Indian middle order batsman, was known for his unique batting stance and amazing temperament stated that he among all the bowling greats he has faced, the Sultan of Swing ‘stands out for’ him.

“I faced some of the greatest bowlers of all-time but Wasim Akram was the best. Waqar Younis, Glenn McGrath and Shaun Pollock were also superb bowlers but Wasim Akram is the one that stands out for me,” said Shivnarine Chanderpaul, in an interview to PakPassion.net.

With a tally of 502 and 414 wickets in ODI and Test cricket, respectively, Akram is rated by many as the best left-arm fast bowler of all time.

The legend remains an active voice in cricket, and at present is involved with Pakistan Super League’s latest franchise Multan Sultans.
