Match called off between Zalmi and Gladiators

SHARJAH: Peshawar Zalmi scored 117 runs in 16 overs while batting first against Quetta Galdiators in rain-hit match of the ongoing second edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) here on Friday.

imageSHARJAH: The match between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators have been called off, after rain on Friday. Both teams would now share a point each.

Peshawar Zalmi scored 117 runs in 16 overs while batting first against Quetta Galdiators in rain-hit match of the ongoing second edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Initially, Sarfraz Ahmeds Gladiators need to chase 125-run revised target according to Duckworth-Lewis (D/L) method. However, due to persistant rain, the Match was unable to begin by 7:58 pm PST

The Zalmi started off well in the first inning, as the newly included Bangladesh batsmen Tamim Iqbal and Muhammad Hafeez shared an opening stand of 41 runs.

Hafeez was caught on 16 on Mahamdullahs delivery by Hassan Khan with 41 runs on the board.

The dismissal of Hafeez triggered an attack by the Gladiators bowling unit, as they claimed two back to back wickets. First wicketkeeper batsman Kamran Akmal perished on naught by Hassan Khan.

Eoin Morgan was the next in line, after he was dismissed on 1 by Rilee Russouw.

However, Iqbal and Sohaib Maqsood stabilised the Zalmi ship, and counter attacked with a 75 run stand.

Iqbal was the top scorer for Zalmi with 62 not out, while Maqsood hit 30.
