imageISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Privatization Muhammad Zubair has said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan had levelled baseless allegations but Government responded with the facts only.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, the Minister said that neither the election was rigged nor the outcome was unexpected because all national and international observers predicted the same result.

However, he added, the reaction of Imran Khan was unexpected.

He said that PML-N had nothing to do with the election management therefore it was baseless to allege that PML-N rigged the election because Chief Election Commissioner and machinery under him was appointed in consultation with the PTI.

He said that national and international media remained vigilant on election day and not a single vote was challenged during the whole day and the PTI polling agents signed the election results without any objection.

He said that most of election petitions filed by the PTI had been disposed of by the election tribunals and PML-N had no role in the proceedings of the tribunals.

The Minister said that Imran Khan remained silent over the issue of rigging for full one year but after failing to deliver in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and seeing achievements of PML-N, he got disappointed and resorted to politics of agitation.

He said that Imran Khan formed a three-member Committee headed by former Interior Secretary Tasnim Noorani to probe irregularities in the intra-party elections.
