ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday assured that the Finance Ministry would resolve the issue of circular debt in weeks after which there would only be scheduled load-shedding.
During a PTV programme "Prime Minister Online", he said the government has initiated short, medium and long term steps to overcome energy shortage.
He mentioned the projects of Diamer Bhasha Dam, rising of Mangla Dam, Thar Coal Project, TAPI, gas import from Iran and electricity import from India, which will help resolve the energy crisis.
As many as 3400 megawatts of electricity are added to the system, he said adding he will visit Qatar to take up the issue of import of Liquefied Natural Gas to Pakistan.
He informed that the issues regarding Iran Pakistan Gas Pipeline project are resolved and the work is in progress.
