ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to closely monitor and assess the evolving security situation in Egypt

He keeps him apprised of the welfare of community on regular basis. Gilani inquired about the safety and security of the Pakistani nationals from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ambassador of Pakistan in Cairo.

The Prime Minister has further directed the ministry, in coordination with other divisions and departments concerned, should have a contingency plan to meet any emergency situation, if required, for ensuring the safe exit of Pakistani nationals from Egypt

There is no intention to amend the blasphemy law, he added. Gilani said that it was Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s regime in which blasphemy law was introduced.

The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to a group of Parliamentarians, who called on him at his chamber in the Parliament House on Monday evening.

Referring to rehabilitation of flood victims, the Prime Minister said that the government has distributed Smart Cards among the flood victims within record time.

He said the flood victims got 20,000 rupees per family through the provincial governments. Federal government will disburse the remaining amount of 80,000 rupees per family to the provinces soon, he added.

The Prime Minister urged the Parliamentarians to focus the completion of on-going development schemes in their respective constituency. He asked the parliamentarians to monitor reconstruction schemes of the flood ravaged areas.

The Parliamentarians included Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Deputy Chairman Senate Senator Jan Jamali, KPK Provincial Minister for Irrigation Pervaiz Khattak and MNAs Abdul Majeed Khan, Malik Shakir Bashir Awan and Noor Alam Khan.
