TOKYO: A 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Japan's Okinawa Island early Monday, but US geologists said it was too deep to cause a tsunami.
The quake hit 68 miles (110 kilometres) northwest of the city of Nago at just after 4:00 am (2000 GMT), at a depth of 70 miles (112 kilometres), according to the US Geological Survey.
