imageBOGOTA: Four Colombian soldiers were killed and two others were wounded Sunday when their helicopter crashed in the central Uribe region, the military said.

The UH-60L Black Hawk, US-manufactured helicopter was ferrying supplies when the accident occurred at about 2:00 pm (1700 GMT), the army said in a statement.

The aircraft was believed to have crashed after encountering technical problems.

"We send our condolences to the families and friends of these soldiers who gave their lives in the line of duty," said the statement, which was signed by the head of the army.

The helicopter pilot was among the four dead, and the two injured were taken from the crash site and are in stable condition.
