A fatwa has been issued by the Dubai’s Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities (IACAD), prohibiting other people Wi-Fi without their consent.
According to Gulf News, a query was received by the department, asking about the legality of using others’ Internet WiFi discreetly.
The fatwa stated that, “it is not allowed for people to use what belongs to others without payment or without their permission. Therefore, the Internet should be used only after subscribing for the service.”
The fatwa was published on the website of the department under the ‘modern fatwas’ section.
A fatwa is a ruling a ruling given on a point of Islamic law, given by a recognized authority.
