The Islamic State (ISIS) has confirmed the death of “Jihadi John”, one of its most notorious militants, who was killed in an airstrike in the Syrian city Raqa, in November last year.
According to The New York Times, “The United States military said in November that it was “reasonably certain” that the militant, whose name was Mohammed Emwazi (Jihadist Kohn), was killed in an airstrike near Raqqa, Syria…..But confirmation had proved elusive.”
According to CNN, This was the first time ISIS addressed the militant's death confirming it in Dabiq. The magazine told the story of his journey into ISIS in a two-page article and reported that he was killed instantly by the drone strike.
As the masked face of ISIS, Emwazi was featured in a series of hostage videos, dressed head-to-toe in black, revealing only his eyes and voice and used to carry a knife.
Emwazi was more like a celebrity within the terror group, he was first seen in a video posted on YouTube in August 2014 that showed him holding a knife and threatening U.S. journalist James Foley.
