HELSINKI: Finland's trade deficit narrowed to 70 million euros ($96 million) in February from 500 million euros in January and 110 million euros a year earlier, preliminary data from the National Customs Board (NCB) showed.
The value of exports in February fell 2 percent year-on-year to around 4.3 billion euros, and the value of imports decreased about 3 percent, NCB said.
The Nordic country, although one of the few remaining triple-A rated economies in the euro zone, has recorded trade deficits for three years in a row as a prolonged downturn in Europe has hurt its exports of paper, machines and ships.
