BAMAKO: The breakaway Al-Qaeda faction that has kidnapped seven Algerian diplomats in northern Mali has demanded a 15 million euro ransom for their release, the group's spokesman told AFP on Wednesday.

"To release the Algerian hostages, we are demanding the release of our brothers imprisoned in Algeria, plus a ransom of 15 million euros," Adnan Abu Walid Sahraoui of The Movement for Unity and Jihad in West Africa said.
