LAHORE: Judicial Activism Penal (JAP) has approached the Lahore High Court through a petition seeking court directions for constitution of judicial commission (JC) to fix responsibility for power crisis in the country.
Chairman JAP Muhammad Azhar Siddique stated that the ongoing power crisis was artificial. He said that previously when Wapda was supplying electricity to the whole country, it was going well and production and supply of electricity was not as short as it is today. With the establishment of several companies such as Pepco, NTDC, Genco, Fesco, Lesco, etc in place of Wapda has reduced the production.
He said that prima facie not only the politicians but ineligible and corrupt bureaucracy has also played its role in such crises being faced by the country. With the establishment of new companies in place of Wapda, administrative cost had also increased with reference to their management and control.
He said that all the authorities concerned, officers, departments and institutions responsible for such power outages are liable to be dealt with iron hands and proceedings against them whether departmental or otherwise, may also be directed to be initiated.
