LAHORE: Pakistan People's Party Senior Vice Chairman and former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Friday President Asif Ali Zardari had won hearts of farmers by increasing the price of wheat.
In a message, he said the president had fulfilled his promise made during his visit to Multan.
He said increase in the wheat price would leave positive impact on wheat production and it would not have been imported at expansive rates.
He appreciated the decision of sub-sidy on tube-wells of poor farmers in Balochistan and termed it a positive step.
He said the PPP was a party of the poor and it would continue to provide relief to the deprived class in society.
Gilani also congratulated President Zardrari on organising successful D-8 conference and said it would open new vistas for the people of the region which would be helpful in reducing poverty.
He said it was success of the foreign policy of the government that all D-8 countries had expressed their trust in Pakistan.
