KARACHI: Jennifer Lopez surprised the world last week when she confirmed she will not return next season as a Judge on “American Idol.”
The Singer, Entrepreneur, Dancer, Fashion Designer and mother of twin toddlers told Ryan Seacrest, in a call to his radio show on Friday that her busy schedule and her desire to return to other projects were the reasons she decided to call it quits.
However Lopez, 42, has now revealed for the first time that another factor that sealed her decision was the exit of fellow Idol Judge Steven Tyler.
Lopez revealed to media sources "We had magic. I don't know, with him [Steven] gone, it might be a different formula."
Telling “Good Morning America” she'd welcome the opportunity to appear on Idol in the future, Lopez has high hopes for the talent who will succeed her and Tyler on the Judges' panel. "I think like Bono or Bon Jovi or Mick Jagger," she told ABC News. "You know me, I think big."
Late last week, a source revealed that fellow songstress Mariah Carey is also among some big names in contention for the hotseat alongside Randy Jackson, Idol's only remaining original judge.
Jackson's future on American Idol remains to be seen. "Steven and Jennifer are truly two of the most talented and consummate professionals I've worked with," the show’s only remaining original judge told media in a statement.
"I was friends with them before we hopped on this crazy journey together and I have no doubt our friendships will continue long after. I will love them for life," he added.
Lopez is embarking on a 19-city North American tour with Enrique Iglesias. She also has plans to return to the big screen, all while caring for her four-year-old toddler twins, Max and Emme.
