KARACHI: A three-member bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Wednesday has given President Asif Ali Zardari another chance to comply with the court’s orders of not continuing as co-chairman of his party while in the presidency otherwise the court would issue contempt of court charges against him, the media reported.
The three-member bench completed the proceedings on petitions relating to contempt of court charges against President Zardari for holding political activities in the President House, despite the LHC full bench May 12 ruling that he could not continue as co-chairman of the ruling party while in the presidency.
LHC full bench headed had asked the President to either step down as co-chairman of the PPP or stop using the presidency for holding the party’s meetings and conferences.
According to the May 12 ruling the President was asked to refrain from holding political activities in the President House.
