pm-kaira KARACHI: Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has said that by following the Quaid-i-Azam's motto of Unity, Faith and Discipline the nation would make headway and we would carry forward the country and the democracy.

He was talking to newsmen during his visit to the mausoleum of the Quaid here on Sunday.

The Prime Minister said that it was a great honour for him to visit the mazar of the founder of the Nation, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He stated that he understands that this is the place where he has to commence his work as the Prime Minister.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf pointed out that today when he was recording his impressions in the visitors' book the motto of the Quaid- Unity, Faith and Discipline, were coming in his mind.

He said that by following these the Pakistani nation would carry forward the country and the democracy.

The Prime Minister said that it is the resolve of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and its allies to foster the politics of reconciliation in the country.

He stated that this vision was given by his great leader, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, and our leader, Asif Ali Zardari, is moving forward with the same vision.

Raja Pervaiz recalled that he had also stated in the Parliament that for facing successfully the challenges we would have to sit together to find the solution with mutual consultation.

" For this the government is always ready", he further pointed out.

He said that he was thankful the coalition partners who elected him the Prime Minister with a wide majority.

Prime Minister said that he was also thankful to the Co-chairman of the PPP, President Asif Ali Zardari who nominated him, and the members of the Assembly sided with him.

He pointed out that the need of the hour is that we face the challenges that are there and improve the lot of the people as early as possible.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said that it is his request to all to pray that we be able to bring about the improvements in the country.

Replying a question, he said that we would perform every task in accordance with the constitution and the law.

He made it clear that we do not want confrontation with any institution as this is in no way in the interest of the country and the people.

The Prime Minister further stated that need of the hour is that we follow the path in accordance with the constitution and the law.

Replying another question, he said that there is an energy crisis in the country, the law and order and the Karachi situation is before us.

He said that we are fully aware of the significance of Karachi, a jugular vein and business hub of the country.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said that he attended the office yesterday the first meeting was regarding the energy and we have started working on it and our efforts are that the people should feel that work is being done in this area.

He said that about law and order, the Adviser on Interior Rehman Malik has given him a briefing. The Governor and Chief Minister Sindh are also present here and we had talked to them. All are unanimous that Isnhallah we will control the law and order situation and that action would be initiated against those who are out to mar the law and order.

In reply to another question, he said that democracy and the Parliament safeguard the country. The solution to all the problems is an excellent parliament and democracy and for this the government has decided that there will be free, fair and transparent elections in the country.

He said that instead of anarchy, holding of free, fair and transparent elections are in the interest of all the political parties. " We all should pay attention towards this very aspect", he added.

To an other question regarding resumption of NATO supply routes, the Prime Minister said that the Parliament is supreme and that a decision would be made in the light of the decisions of the Parliament.

He said that we desire having very good relations with the United States as well as with the entire world but on the basis of equality, honour and dignity. This was our policy earlier and we will continue to follow this.

Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Federal Ministers Qamar Zaman Kaira, Syed Naveed Qamar, Syed Khurshid Shah, Adviser to PM Rehman Malik and provincial ministers were also present on the occasion.
