ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday said there existed a lot of scope for cooperation with Iraq in the fields of infrastructure, construction and energy.

Talking to Ambassador of Iraq Rushdi Mahmood Rasheed, who called on him here, the Prime Minister said the cooperation would promote the interdependence of economies of the two brotherly countries.

The Ambassador handed over an invitation from Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki to Prime Minister Gilani to visit Iraq at his earliest convenience.

The Prime Minister accepted the invitation and said an early date of the visit would be finalized by the foreign ministries of the two countries through diplomatic channels.

He told the Ambassador that he was looking forward to visit Iraq to promote relations between the two countries as well as to pay his respects at the shrines of his ancestors.

On the Ambassador's interest to import Pakistani skilled labour, doctors and engineers, the Prime Minister said all the requirements of the Iraqi government would be met in that regard.

The Iraqi Ambassador said his country was ready to meet the oil requirements of Pakistan for which his government was in touch with the Ministry of Petroleum of the Government of Pakistan.

He said a Pakistani company had qualified for doing business in the sector in his country which would prove a milestone of cooperation between the two countries.
