US NAVAL BASE AT GUANTANAMO BAY: The five men accused of plotting the deadly September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States, including confessed mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, deferred their plea Saturday at a military tribunal here.
Khalid Sheikh, 47, as well as four other accused, face the death penalty for their links to the attacks that killed 2,976 people in the worst terror strike on US soil in modern history.
After a hearing lasting more than nine hours, Mohammed and his four co-defendants opted not to plead innocent or guilty but rather to push back their plea to a later date.
