RECORDER REPORT
ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) on Friday summoned Secretaries of Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to explain the government's position regarding Nato supply.
The committee issued these directions on a statement given by US Ambassador Cameron Munter on Thursday. The Ambassador had said that Nato supplies were continuing through Pakistani airspace.
At the conclusion of committee meeting, Senator Chairman Rabbani said the committee took a serious notice of the statement of Munter and had directed the secretaries of ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defence to explain the facts.
The PCNS also decided not to record the statement of memogate's main witness Mansoor Ijaz abroad and termed it against the parliamentary traditions.
The Chairman said the committee always avoided travelling abroad on various occasions in the past to achieve any such objectives as they thought it was against the parliamentary traditions and norms. He further stressed that all the meetings of the parliamentary committees should be held in the parliament being supreme. The committee also has been closely looking into the proceedings of the judicial commission.
