najamsethi1LAHORE: Renowned Journalist Najam Sethi was on Tuesday selected to head up an interim administration to guide the politically important Punjab through historic elections.

Sethi was selected by a six-member parliamentary committee comprising three members each from the out-going provincial government of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and the main opposition Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

"We have selected Najam Sethi, an opposition candidate, for the post of caretaker chief minister of Punjab," Rana Sanaullah, former provincial law minister and member of the committee from PML(N), told reporters in Lahore.

Three other provinces, Khyber Pakhtun-Khwa, Balochistan and Sindh, have already selected their caretaker chief ministers.
