MECCA: The Islamic summit meeting in this Saudi holy city early Thursday announced the suspension of Syria from the 57-member Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
A statement issued at the end of the conference said participants had agreed on "the need to end immediately the acts of violence in Syria and to suspend that country from the OIC."
