gas pipe line 400ISLAMABAD: The residents of twin cities of Islamabad Rawalpindi are facing severe problem of low gas pressure, which has made their lives miserable.

Talking to APP here on Wednesday they said that they were unable to cook anything at home. They had to stand in long queues outside restaurants and tandoors during breakfast and dinner times.

Qasim Khan, a Tandoor operator at F-6 said that due to low gas pressure tandoor owners were using Liquefied Natural Gas (LPG) or firewood to operate their tandoors.

People said that the traders of LPG have raised the price manifold, as at present LPG is available at Rs145 per kg, which is Rs60 higher than the LPG production cost.

Asma Waqar a resident of G-7 told APP that the low Sui gas pressure multiplied the miseries of domestic consumers in most parts of the City, compelling them to use electric heaters and stoves to fulfil their household chores.

The daily routine also badly affected due to the low pressure of gas especially at early morning hours and in the evening when the pressure reduced to minimum and it became too difficult for the people to cook.

According to Mothers, the school going children were also disturbed, as they have to skip their breakfast owing to very low pressure of gas.

Mrs Athar, a housewife told that it was really annoying when everyone was in hurry to start their daily activities in the morning but could not get the breakfast ready on time due to low gas pressure.

A resident at Dhok Syedha, Muhammad Asif said that they had been facing severe problem of low gas pressure for the last two weeks. We have registered complaints to the relevant department several times but to no avail, he added.

An official of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) said that usually gas pressure reduced in the winter season due to considerable gap between the demand and supply.

Several complaints had been registered in the last few days and the company had been trying to sort out solution to ensure gas supply to the consumers, he added.
