Saif Ali Khan roped in for Bollywood adaptation of Japanese novel 'The Devotion of Suspect X'
Saif Ali Khan, who is waiting for the release of his upcoming film ‘Happy Ending’, has been roped in by Balaji Films for Bollywood adaptation of Japanese crime thriller novel.
According to media reports, Saif Ali Khan has been roped in to play the lead role in the Bollywood adaptation of Keigo Higashino's Japanese crime thriller novel ‘The Devotion of Suspect X’. In 2005 novel written by Keigo Higashino is one of the top 10 detective novels in Japan. Ekta Kapoor has acquired the rights to make a film based on the novel, and it will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh of ‘Kahaani’ fame.
The plot of the novel revolves around an abusive husband killed by his ex-wife and daughter. The plot thickens when a neighbour offers help, disposing not only the body but plotting the cover-up too. However, the body is discovered, and a police investigation begins.
The film has already been adapted in Japanese and Korean films and a Hollywood version is also under development.
