imageCOVENTRY: Wallabies international Kirtley Beale joined his new club Wasps on Wednesday and said he was ready for a new challenge while struggling to shake off a lingering injury.

The Australian joined the English team after spending 10 years at Australian Super Rugby side Waratahs.

"I'm very happy that I'm here now, and ready to work hard and rip into my rehab to get back as fit as possible for the Wasps," said Beale.

The 27-year-old sustained a torn patella tendon in his left knee in May and could be out for at least another two months.

He said he had plenty to offer Wasps once his injury worries were over.

"I've always based my game around the X factor," he said.

"I try and create opportunities for my team mates around me. Obviously it will be a bit more challenging bringing in a different style and whether that comes with my play, but I think that's all part of the challenge."

Beale's injury will rule him out of the start of the Aviva Premiership on September 4 and he will also miss out on the Wasps first games in Europe.

"To be able to get an opportunity to come over and play for a huge club like the Wasps who have a fantastic fan base and huge tradition, well there was no other choice really," said Beale, about joining the Coventry based side.

The new signing said he was anxious to play and show off what he was capable of doing for his new club.

Wasps start their domestic season against last year's runners up Exeter on September 4. They then face Zebre Rugby in the Champions Cup on September 15.
