Muhammad Waseem Khan has become the first Pakistani boxer to wins World Boxing Council (WBC) and got silver flyweight title as he defeated Philippine’s Jether Oliva at the Hilton Hotel in Seoul, South Korea on Sunday.
The fight had gone to 12 rounds, when Waseem declared as winner of the tournament by all the judges after compelling the result. After beating Jether Oliva in final, Waseem Khan jumped to at rank 4 in his respective weight category International professional Boxing Ranking.
President Mamnoon Hussain, Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and other leaders congratulated the boxer over his win and making history.
Balochistan Sports Minister Mir Mujeebur Rehman announced a prize of 5 lac rupees for Waseem after his magnificent victory for Pakistan. Waseem told a local media that it was an honor for him to win the championship for his country and he dedicated his win to the nation. “I thank the whole nation for their prayers,”
Waseem know as ‘Falcon Khan’ as a nick name in Pakistan represented Pakistan many time in Common Wealth Games in 2010, 2014, South Asian Games in 2010 and awarded silver medal, Asian Games 2014 won Bronze medal, also represented Pakistan in President cup as well.
